A LEVELL Self Assessment

We've discussed the LEVELL framework and its six pillars:

  • Love: focusing on relationships and connections with friends and family
  • Exploration: broadening horizons through curiosity, risk-taking, and venturing into the unknown
  • Vitality: maintaining physical and mental well-being through healthy habits, fitness, and fun activities
  • Education: continuous learning and self-improvement
  • Legacy: leaving a positive impact on the world and future generations.
  • Livelihood: pursuing income-generating opportunities and financial stability

There can be different ways to do so, but my method comes from a mixture of others; more specifically, I drew inspiration from Shaan Puris LIFE Dashboard. How do we put them to use?

First, look at each pillar at try to asses each area on a score from 1 to 5, 1 being the lowest and where you are least comfortable at the moment, and 5 being the one where things are going great. That is not to say that all work is done since this exercise should be done continuously.

Second, log a "Why?" to each score. I recommend you first put a score based on gut feeling, and when you start writing the "Why?", you might realize you've fared better or worse than you initially thought.

Finally, sleep on it for a day or two. Then come back and see if it still makes sense. During that time, you might come up with more reasons why one pillar is better... or worse. But more importantly, it will start pushing you to think about how to fix them.

It's good to do this exercise at least once per year. But if you are determined enough, you can do it every quarter along with your personal Personal OKRs: Objectives and Key Results (I'll discuss OKRs in a later post).
