10 Lessons I Learned After Publishing 30 Blog Posts
I've written 30 posts, and reflecting on the process has given me some insights I'd like to share. Looking back, I marvel at how I found the time to write some of these posts. But the truth is, each post came together in its own unique way - sometimes I had a week to mull over ideas, sometimes inspiration struck in a moment, and sometimes I just pushed through. Here are ten things that I've learned after 30 days of writing:
- Don't overthink: Start writing and let your words take you on a journey. You might be surprised at where a simple idea can take you.
- Write as early in the day as possible: Your mind is fresher in the morning, so even if you don't have a complete idea, jotting down some thoughts can get your creative juices flowing.
- Keep a note of new ideas: The best ideas often come when you're doing something else. Write down any new ideas that come to you, and revisit them later to flesh them out.
- Write for yourself: Don't worry about pleasing anyone else with your writing - focus on clarity of ideas and finding your style.
- Done is better than perfect: Don't get bogged down in perfectionism. It's better to publish a mediocre post than to keep striving for perfection and never hit publish.
- Try different writing styles: Experiment with varying types of writing to find your voice and style.
- Look for a personal habitat: Find a comfortable place to write where ideas flow more easily. This can be a dedicated workspace at home or a coffee shop or library that you find inspiring.
- Be consistent: Determine a posting cadence that works for you and stick to it. Consistency will help you build a writing habit over time.
- Create a feedback loop: Seek feedback from family and friends to improve your writing, and be open to constructive criticism. Eventually, feedback will come from your readers.
- Enjoy the process: Writing can be challenging but also incredibly rewarding. You'll find inspiration and moments of pure joy by making it a habit.
Writing consistently has been an incredible experience for me, and I hope that these tips will be helpful for anyone looking to start their writing practice. Remember, there's no right or wrong way to write - find what works for you and enjoy the process!
