Introduction

Not all ideas need to be technological. Many great businesses start with a simple idea, a new approach, and much effort. In this post, I will share a simple idea for a challenge that I know is very common—designing and maintaining a nice enough garden without being an expert.

Gardening is a popular hobby for many people around the world. However, not everyone has the time or expertise to maintain their gardens. As a result, many gardens are left untended and dried out or, on the contrary, overgrown, making them unattractive and difficult to manage. This is where Garden as a Service (GaaS) comes in.

A GaaS would restore gardens and offer ongoing maintenance to ensure they remain healthy and beautiful throughout the year. It should provide multiple restoration options and a subscription-based model to ensure consistent upkeep.

Inspiration 1: Subscriptions

A subscription-based model would be ideal for the ongoing maintenance of gardens. The service would offer a payment up-front and a recurring payment to maintain the Garden. This approach not only solves the immediate need for restoring the Garden but also provides a predictable and constant stream of revenue. Customers would also benefit from having a reliable and experienced gardener who would take care of their Garden regularly.

Inspiration 2: Landscaping

The restoration options would range from a basic restoration to a complete restoration with a sprinkler system, plants, and trees. The highest level of restoration would include a premium design worthy of royalty. The service would offer a comprehensive range of landscaping services that would cater to the Garden’s specific needs. Gardeners would assess the current state of the Garden and provide 2-3 restoration options for the customer to choose from. This would include a range of options tailored to the size of the Garden and the customer’s preferences.

Inspiration 3: Organic Home Farming

For customers interested in home gardening, the service could offer add-ons such as a home garden or exotic plant offerings. This would allow customers to grow their own organic produce or have unique and exotic plants in their gardens. The gardeners would provide guidance on how to maintain the home garden and ensure that it remains healthy and productive throughout the year.

Solution: Garden as a Service

By offering a GaaS, the company can not only meet the needs of its customers but also provide formal employment and training to many gardeners. The service would be a deductible maintenance expense for those who need it. Also, the company could offer a reliable and professional service to customers looking to restore and maintain their gardens. The service would ensure that the customer’s Garden remains healthy and beautiful throughout the year, with regular maintenance and improvements as needed.
